 OK TO CRY

By David L. Bruman

My dog died when I was ten.
I took a big step toward becoming a man.
I'd learn there's a hurt deep down inside.
I'd learn from my Dad, men don't cry.

My daddy died when I was fifteen.
Deep down inside I want to scream.
I'm a man now and will not cry.
I suffer now when I sleep.

I went at eighteen to Vietnam.
Death, death, I had to be a man.
I got good at burying feelings deep.
I suffer now when I sleep.

My son is now fifteen.
I hope I can change the theme.
A man can cry and let it out.
Free the pain, that;s what it's all about.
